Underage Alcohol & Other Drugs Education Program

PROGRAM MISSION

To make a life changing impact on the lives of youth and/or young adults through 12 hours of educational instruction concerning underage consumption of alcohol and the use of other drugs.

 

PROGRAM ENROLLMENT

Participants may be referred to the program by area Magisterial District Judges, a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, the Department of Community Corrections for juveniles and adults, and area public and private school districts. However, any youth and/or young adults under the age of 21 are welcome to enroll. Upon our receipt of the program fee, participants will be registered and immediately scheduled for the next program series. The information needed to register for a class include; the participant's full legal name, contact telephone number, docket number, social security number, gender and age/date of birth. 

 

PROGRAM CONTENT

Each program series consists of a three hour class one night a week for four consecutive weeks.

Class 1: Pretest, Laws & Consequences
Class 2: Alcohol & Other Drugs
Class 3: Abuse and Addiction
Class 4: Goals & Decision Making, Post Test


PROGRAM CRITERIA

- The program fee must be paid in advance before a participant will be considered to be officially registered for a class. This fee is non-refundable.
- Timely attendance to all four classes is mandatory in order to receive a program Certificate of Completion. Participants will not be admitted to class later than five minutes after the scheduled start time.
- Make up classes for "verifiable" personal emergency situations will be scheduled at the discretion of the program administrator.
- No one will be permitted to attend the program while under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs. Participants found to be under such influence will be immediately dismissed from the program. Random D&A testing may be conducted at the discretion of the program instructor(s).
- Positive behavior and participation is required to successfully complete the program. Participants perceived to be disruptive and/or uncooperative will be dismissed from the program.
- One parent or guardian must attend the first class along with the Participant. An exception may be granted for nonresident parents at the discretion of the program administrator.
- In the event a Participant is dismissed from the program before its completion, they will be referred back to their corresponding referral source for further disposition.
- Upon successful completion of the program, the program administrator will send written verification to each Participant's corresponding referral source

 

PROGRAM SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Classes are scheduled as needed throughout the calendar year and are currently held in two locations within Butler County.
- In the city of Butler, classes are held on Wednesdays from 5:30PM to 8:30PM at The Net Outreach located at 100 Center Avenue Butler, PA 16001.
- In Slippery Rock, classes are held on prescheduled days from 5:30PM to 8:30PM at the District Court located at 520 Kelly Boulevard Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
- In the event that a class is canceled due to weather and/or other circumstances beyond our control, an attempt will be made to contact each Participant by telephone.

 

PROGRAM FEE

The program fee of $125.00 must be paid and received by GYFF at least one week prior to the scheduled start of the first class. It may be paid electronically using Pay-Pal by visiting our website www.gyff.org. (Click on "Support Us", then click on "Electronic Payment", then click on the yellow "PayPal" button and enter your credit / debit card information) Payment may also be made by cashiers check or money order made payable to Grace Youth and Family Foundation (GYFF) and mailed to 100 Center Avenue Butler, PA 16001. Please ensure that the docket number and participants name are recorded on the check. Participants will be officially registered once GYFF has received verification of payment.
